About the Author, Marge Silvestri

Marge’s life has been full and fulfilled as a pre-school through middle school teacher, mother to 3, grandmother to 6, in a beautiful diverse family. She especially enjoyed creating and directing a city wide Discovery Program to promote the different ways we are “smart”. As a patented inventor, she taught children to turn what bugged them into a solution, spotlighting them in “Invention Conventions”. However, for many years, Marge had a longing to create a children’s picture book to share an important message.

It was research and experience as a student at Cornell and Tufts Universities, combined with teaching and parenting, that inspired the idea for Like a Rainbow. Marge appreciates the opportunity to use her book to continue to teach and encourage children to see the best of themselves and others. Her multidisciplined interactive programs are available for schools, libraries, bookstores, and private groups.

When not thinking of the next book, Marge enjoys reading a good book for her BookClubs, zentangling, creating seaglass art , and trying out new recipes. Over 8 years ago, she started a charity called “Cuddle and Read” that brings children’s books and their matching plush toys to needy families.

Marge is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
